Blame EA/DICE for hardcoding it this way.They didn't even want you to access it in Single-Player without first unlocking them on-line in MP. However, thanks to me I figured it out how to get the customized screen working. But yes you do have to have access to the Internet.What I don't understand is why this is such a big issue. I mean most people that are posting on the forums have access to the Internet so why can't you just hook up your gaming computer to the Internet? Even if you have dial-up all you need to do is log in?Most users I have spoken to that have a problem with using an on-line account are the ones that have an illegal copy and can't log on.
Not saying you are one of them but why is playing SP on-line such a big deal? @FFOLKESyou are asking why there are people that don't want to play SP online. Just because they can't when they don't have a possibility to go online from home like me for different reasons. And i can't play games in the Internet Cafe i'm surfing in cause they have to pay extra big amounts of taxes if they allow it. The cities gov says it's like slot machines and else.
So i would have to pay much more to surf.And there is another very big point called data awarenes. EA wants to many personal information from me and that are stored on servers in the USA where i have no legal way to know what is done with that and who can get a hold of it.I do have a legal DVD version of BF2142. I'd give my CDKey to someone who is willing to play online (happened), get the unlocks and share the BF2142 and profile folders and a copy of the registry because i'd like to check out how the Dedicated Server gets the unlocks. It must be stored somewhere for the use with the Ded. Server.have a look:Beside that i won't buy anymore EA BF products if there isn't an uncrippled offline SP mode in future. Now i am thankfull for all the work all you gals (hey BC) and guys did and do. The Unlocks and ranks system encourages people to play online.
This in turn gives more numbers for EA to flaunt to potential advertisers.The more people playing, the wider the advertisement base. The larger the advertisement base the more advertising EA could potentially sell. The more they sell, the more money they make.I (imho) personally think that EA feels it might lessen the advertising demographic. It's silly for them to think so because people still have to work online in order to earn the unlocks for MP. This mod doesn't work in the MP arena, and the people who primarily play it is people who either can't or won't play online anyway.FFOLKES isn't breaking any laws or infringing on copyrights, so EA doesn't make any official statement against him.
They're justed irked by it, put simply. Chief.I completley understand what your saying here and how EA could see it that way.The thing I dont see is how EA doesnt realisze that offline unlocks, awards & stats would be great but the fact is that the greater percentage, if not the exzact same numbers as now, would still play online simply because many people like playing against other players apposed to bots/AI. But offline rankings would boost the value even more since ppl like me and others here I am sure dont buy/play certain games that are almost completley online-based because we do not enjoy getting into arguments with other ppl or dont have a fast internet connection and/or very limited access to a slow ISP.I really hope Bad Company adds these things to both online & off modes.As far as this mod vs. EA needs to give it's fans(if you would call it that) what they want in their games, untill they do this they can kiss my a.!
Thanks for everyones patience. Below is the first release of my Unlocks mod v1.20aNote on the Northern Strike Unlocks. The kit item selected in the customization screen will replace any default weapon in slot #7 (See KitDescriptions.pdf found in the download file). Once you select it you can't change it back until the game is over.
This is the limitation of EA/DICE hard-coding the Unlock system and only allowing 4 max unlocks without earning them on-line.Please post feedback as soon as possible in this thread. I need your feedback in order to finish my work on v1.20b and v1.20c.I will then update Page 1 of this thread to officially announce the mod.
